I’m Really Going
As I am typing, my mom is booking my flight to Spain.
Guys, this means I’m actually going. There’s no turning back now. In less than three months, I will be living in Madrid.
I fly from LAX on August 19th, arrive the morning of August 20th, take a free shuttle to my hotel (which, by the way, looks super nice but is still relatively inexpensive), and then take a seven minute taxi ride to my pre-Complutense school the next day, where I check in and am assigned a dorm room for the next month.
Ahhhh it’s so real!
I also discovered today that there’s an amusement park in Madrid called “Parque Warner,” which is described as, “a new theme park based on the glamour of Hollywood.” Excellent. I can travel 6000 miles and visit a fake Hollywood (which, er, by the way, is rather unglamorous). I suppose it’s the equivalent of going to MGM Studios (now Disney’s Hollywood Studios) at Disney World. I guess even dumber is the Hollywood area at California Adventure, because you can drive 45 minutes and see the same thing but real.
I’m working on finishing up visa stuff this week. It turns out I’ll have to drive all the way to Norwalk for the county clerk, which I wasn’t expecting. But basically I have to go to a notary today, get a notary authentication from Norwalk on Monday, get an Apostille from the Secretary of State in downtown L.A. on Thursday, and then go to my Spanish consulate appointment the next Tuesday. And then I should be done. It’s been kind of a stressful and tedious process, but I guess it hasn’t been too bad, and I’m almost done. Woohoo!
By the way, I don’t like this layout as much as I did at first. It’s a little boring. I’ll just keep this as the basic template and add more elements to spice it up.
Okay, I need to get ready so I can get to the notary by 4:30, so I’ll leave now. Ciao! Or “chao” I should say, since this is my Spain blog, not my Italy blog.
Kirstie, if you miss Disneyland while you’re in Spain, go to Segovia, where the orginal “Sleeping Beauty’s Castle” is. If you can wait til February, go with your Mom and me because we want to see it. http://outdoors.webshots.com/photo/2753320840085120556UflpYD
